SCHOLL, Robert Ernst Lee "Ernie"

88, passed away on Jan. 29, 2014, at his home in McQueeney, TX, formerly of Georgetown. Ernie was born in Karnes City, TX on Nov. 10, 1925 to Walter "Doc" Scholl and Valeska Sahm Scholl of New Braunfels, TX.

He graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Parachute Rigger Second on the U.S. Saratoga during WWII. He was Honorable Discharge on Oct. 31, 1947. He joined the Texas Dept. of public safety in 1948 as a State Highway Patrolman and progressed to the rank of Captain. In 1953, he was selected as one of the original five officers to form the DPS State Narcotics Unit. He retired as a Supervising Agent on June 8, 1983 with a special Texas Ranger Commission.

He was a member of American Legion, Post 83, Master Mason of Grand Lodge of TX International, Capital Area Law Enforcement Officers, Sheriff's Assocn. of TX, Fraternal Order of Border Agents, Guadalupe Valley Peace Officers Assocn. and DPS State Narcotics Oldtimers Assocn. of which he was a founding member. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Waldorf and Clinton "SnuffY" Scholl, 2 sisters Naoma Nell Scholl and Iris Schlather. He is survived by his adopted daughter, Peggy Imbert, of McQueeney, 3 sisters, Avis Banks of Austin, Shirley Scholl of Corpus Christi, and Betty Ann McLean of New Braunfels, five brothers, Randolph of Fall River Mills, CA, Atwell Canyon Lake, Franklin (Josephine) Sealy, Madison (Janet) Round Rock, Merton (Linda) Corpus Christi, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved police officers and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life with reception to follow will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX on Feb. 21, 2014 at 11 am with an interment service at 2:00 pm at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the DPS State Narcotics Oldtimers Association Emergency Fund, in care of Larry Partin, P.O. Box 586, Nocona, Texas 76255.
