Robert M. Adams Robert M. Adams, 87, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on October 18th at the Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Tom and Eunice Adams on July 30, 1923. The family moved to Austin in 1933. Robert attended Allen Jr. High, and graduated from Austin High School in 1942. He went on to attend NYA Radio School in Austin, where he met Nellie Ruth Bond. Robert married Nellie Ruth Bond, the love of his life on November 8, 1942. After getting married, they moved to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, where they lived until 1945. Following that, he joined the Air Force and went to Control Tower School in Amarillo, Texas, and in 1946 they moved back to Austin where he worked at Bergstrom Air Force Base. He then went on to work with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. (AT&T) in 1947 and retired in July 1987. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Eunice Adams, his brother Burton Adams, and their son Tommie Lee Adams. Robert is survived by Ruth, his wife of 67 years, daughter Sharon Thornhill and her husband Joe Thornhill, twin daughters Janet Adams and Robin Jobe, and her husband Kenneth Jobe. Grandchildren Wendy & husband Steve Meyer, Tonya & husband Tim Preece, and Jason Jobe & wife Molly. There are three great- grandchildren: Taylor and Chloe Preece, and Haylee Mendez. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 21st of October 2010, in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Boulevard, Austin. The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 22nd of October 2010, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home with the Reverends John Ahn and Arthur Fray officiating. The committal services will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, Pflugerville. Active pallbearers will be Joe Thornhill, Steve Meyer, Tim and Taylor Preece, and Kenneth and Jason Jobe. The family wishes to thank Seton Medical Center Nursing Staff on 4th North in the Intermediate Care Unit for the loving, tender care given to our Daddy the past 18 days.
