Troy Beatty Morris, Jr. Troy Morris, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at his home in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Troy was born on July 26, 1918, in Texarkana, Texas, to Arlie and Troy Beatty Morris. Troy was a 1st. Lt. serving as an aerial navigator in the Army Air Forces in the South Pacific during WWII. He was in the 3rd Emergency Rescue Squadron from April 1942 - December l945, and flew rescue missions as a navigator of the PBY Catalina aircraft. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Engineering in 1948 and began his professional career in the oil industry upon graduation. He was with Amoco Oil from 1948 to 1986, and Pluspetrol from 1988 to 1997, retiring at age 79. While working in Argentina he met his wife, Reina, in Buenos Aires. Troy is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Arlie Morris. He is survived by his wife, Reina Morris, daughter Paola Guerrero, son Troy Beatty Morris III, and cousin Beatty Palmer. He also leaves behind nephews Frank Betancourt, Lionel Betancourt, nieces Lee Magee and Betty Wilson, and many grand-nephews and grand-nieces as well as friends all over the world. Troy was a member of the National Guard of Texas, Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society, the Student Tech Societies, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and a lifetime member of the Texas Exes. Troy had a full and wonderful life. He was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns, Atlanta Braves and San Antonio Spurs. Two of his favorite pastimes were reading and listening to the radio. He had a great love of the Argentina culture and Argentine foods and wines, and he always enjoyed his 5 p.m. sip of whiskey. His wit and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A private memorial service is being held at the University of Texas Alumni Center.
