COPELAND, Verby Nichols

Verby Nichols Copeland, age 90, of Round Rock and formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2013.

She was born on May 13, 1923 in Dothan, Alabama to Harrison and Cornelia (Holt) Nichols. In 1941 she married R.C. "Clifford" Copeland, and they were married for over 50 years when he passed away in 1993. She was a devoted to her family, and served proudly as a Band mother, PTA Director, Girl Scout Leader, and a Boy Scout Den Mother. She also served as the church secretary for over 17 years at Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to Austin in 1992, and became a member of Northwest Baptist Church and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Round Rock. She also attended Providence Baptist Church in Longview.

Verby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Betty Hobbs and Emma Renfroe, and brothers, Luther and Ernest Nichols. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela Copeland of Lambertville, NJ and William Copeland of Haverhill, MA; grandchildren, Joshua, Ian, and Sarah; and great-granddaughter, Isabella. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. Clifford D. Hobbs and his wife Gene of Round Rock; beloved nieces and nephews, Joel Hobbs and wife Mary Crawford of Austin, Dr. Gregg and wife Donna Fort of Gweru, Zimbabwe, Africa, Lori Hobbs (wife of David Hobbs , deceased) of Pflugerville, and Alford and Brenda Renfroe of Pensacola, FL.

A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Round Rock. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Round Rock, 306 Round Rock Avenue, Round Rock, Texas 78664 to be directed to the Betty Memorial Institute Liberia.
