I miss my cousin, Hymie Samuelson. What a wonderful loving man who made a difference in so many of our lives. I'm sure Hymie is still shedding his light. I know his love for all of us will be with us forever. Blessings to a special soul who is loved by so many. I love and miss you, Cousin Hymie <3 Mara Aronowitz Huey

I am so sorry. I will miss my cousin Hymie forever. He kept me a Samuelson and helped me to understand what happened with my grandfather, Abe. I was always in his debt for his kindness to me. I hope it's exactly the way he wanted it to be on the "other side".

Hymie Samuelson's light will burn bright for decades, through the many people who's lives he brought light to as a warm, compassionate, loving man.
The circle of light that Hymie Samuelson has created illuminates his life, as a people person, who truly understsood that the only lasting contribution that you make to this world, are the people you bring into this world, and the people who's lives you touch in this world.
Thank you cousin Hymie for being a light in my life. Blessed are all who knew you.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Hymie. It's been a number of years since I've seen him but I will always remember his infectious smile, his warm heart and his good nature. I feel privileged to have known him. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

To the family and very close friends of Mr. Samuelson, I have only known Hymie for a short time since joining CBI and volunteering at some of the Sr. events. I was so sad to hear of his sudden passing. He has always been such an inspiration to be around. I will always hold fond memories of Hymie. I would always look forward to seeing him at events and will miss his beautiful smile. My prayers are with you, may you find comfort in these days ahead.

My Grandfather, Hymie, was the greatest man I will ever know in my lifetime (even if I lived a thousand years). He taught us not only by the stories he told, but more importantly, by the way he lived his life. He was an exceptional communicator and listener, unusual in a man brilliant as he.
There will never be another "Papa." I will miss him so much; I'm not sure my heart will ever mend. But I take comfort in the pictures and memories I have of him - and also knowing I am passing his teachings to our own children. In that way, Papa will live forever. Papa, we will love and miss you always, forever.

There is no one like Papa, nor will there ever be, as long as I'm alive anyway. He was a truly wonderful person and I am honored to have been accepted into his family and a recipient of his love. I will pass his lessons on to my children and my children's children.

What would Hymie have said about this? He may have said that this is where things end for one but begin for others. He may have said that this is a time for those of us who admired and cherished him to think about how we can make a difference in someone's life, the way he did for so many. Hymie was truly a wonderful man, and I was saddened by his death. Shannon Brents, distant cousin (Lamar, Arkansas)

Hymie wasn't simply a mensch. He was a super-mensch. I'll think of him as a lamed-vavnik, one of The Thirty-Six doers of good on whom the world depends. He certainly brought light and good deeds everywhere, to Sunday school classes at Beth Israel, where our children learned much from his smile and words, to his nearly twenty books, all modestly self-published, to his vision on the continuity of life and human renewal, to his warm and sparkling greetings to all, to the Dell JCC, to his serving as a founding director of our Central Texas Jewish Writers League, and to much, much more. My sympathies to his immediate and extended family and all who were close to him.

When I awoke this week to the news Hymie had passed on, I was saddened. Though I no longer live in Austin, and have not been to the Temple in Austin in 10 years, I sent the news on to my grown children and 2 Austin friends in Vancouver with the news that the world lost a "mensch." They agreed. Hymie's smile and joy was a gift to all of us.

I had the pleasure of working with Hymie over the years printing his hard bound books. We started working together in the late 80's and continued to do so until 2006. He was such a wonderful and interesting person and I always looked forward to seeing him. I also had the pleasure of meeting his sweet Louise. He wrote in one of his books "how a person lives is more important than how long he lives." He lived well.

Hymie was very inspiring to our whole family. He would always say we were his "spedial friends". His goodness was godliness, and was a role model for having an open heart.

We have been so fortunate to have been "special friends", as Hymie called us. His wisdom and warmth were treasures he shared with us all. His goodness was godliness-an inspiration to my whole family.

Hymie was a beloved person to us, in particular, to my son. Hymie was a really sharp dresser; when my son was in pre-school, Hymie had retired from business but came to tell the children stories. Even though Hymie was coming to sit on the floor with small children; he still dressed in a 3 piece suit w/tie and for his stories, props would appear from various pockets (my fave being Jonah and the Whale; the waves came out of one pants pocket; the Whale out of the other; and Jonah lept out from the vest pocket and was swallowed up!) Hymie continued in this "spreading the cheer" vein as his beloved wife Louise developed Alzheimers and Hymie would bring her to Circle of Friends and share in entertaining the other participants and assist in including the preschoolers in sharing with the older ones... Hymie always did the things that made him happy. I will go to his service at the Temple; I will tell people the story of when my son at age 3 dressed up in his own 3 piece suit w/tie for the installation of the new Lady Rabbi Dunsker (whom my son had a great crush on) and being so pleased that he "looked just like Hymie"; we will carry on with Hymie's happy outlook on life. My dear cousin Hymie, I will truly miss you. My thoughts are with Jerry, Becky, Debbie and Rick. Dotsy will miss her brother terribly too. Hymie was certainly a gret influence on my life. He epitomized the Samuelson's faith, good humor and love for others.

I sit here, still stunned by the words that tell me Hymie Samuelson has left us.I received an email from him just the day before he died. I will miss him deeply. He will really leave a void in my life. He has been part of the life of our small family for over six years. We have lost someone who brought encouragement, and emotional support into this turbulent world of ours.We have lost someone who loved people with their strengths and weaknesses. We have lost a treasure of a man.

Hymie was the best teacher a struggling teenager could end up with. He was a wonderful friend throughout our lives and will be missed by all.

Hymie was a great storyteller. He would visit CDC and sit on the floor telling sories to the children. He was always dressed in a suit and tie with a most contagious smile. The children drew many pictures of their friend Hymie, and always included a tie. He gave me each of his books always signed with a personal messaage. Hymie was a great listener to all ages and truly a "mensch". I will miss him!

Hymie was a wonderful person to have in my life. He gave me a job with Slax Men's Wear and promoted me through the ranks as manager of 2 of their stores. Molly and I visited Hymie on Monday 7/24/10, and we talked about a lot of good times. He will certainly be missed. May God bless his loving family.

Hymie was a kind and decent man. He took time to talk with anyone who enjoyed a good story - and did he have them!
He will be missed by young and old alike, and everyone in between. His life and work has created a great legacy of Jewish knowledge, humor, and wisdom.
