David Norris Roberts April 19, 1928 - July 4, 2012 On July 4th, 2012, former United States Air Force Fighter Pilot, David Norris Roberts, completed his final mission and "slipped the surly bonds of earth". Dave was born April 19, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Leslie and Imogene Roberts. After graduating from Texas A & I University (now Texas A&M), he flew 100 missions during the Korean War where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. Dave was a former Oak Hill Rotary president and member for 50 years and was actively involved with the Rotary Ambassador Scholarship Program. He has proudly helped many students grow scholastically through international education. Dave entered the private sector after the Air Force and eventually owned his own business with his wife for 29 years in the communications industry. At the age of 79 he retired, but remained an active and vibrant individual in the community. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Roberts, as well as his sister, Diane Johnson. He leaves 2 daughters, Leslie Roberts Frazier and Sara Robinson as well as a son-in-law James Von Robinson, and his 2 precious granddaughters, Kyle and Lynn Robinson. He was proud to count many nieces and nephews as part of his extended family, as well as dear friends and loving neighbors. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at www.cookwaldenforestoaks.com.
