Robert "Bob" Walter Starck Robert "Bob" Walter Starck departed this life on 9/29/2012 at the age 92. He was born 5/4/1920 along with twin sister, Ruth in Palatine, IL. He grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. During the Great Depression, he worked before enrolling in the College of Business at the Urbana campus of University of Illinois. He was active in sports, Alpha Sigma Phi, and ROTC, graduating in 1942 with a BS in marketing and 2nd Lt Commission in the Army Air Corps. He was immediately transferred to Randolph Field in San Antonio TX. He became a Squadron Commander and sent to India where he supervised flying supplies to China. After the war, he returned to San Antonio TX and married Mary Jane Park. They moved up to the Chicago area, building a house in Mt Prospect IL. At age 39, Bob earned his Real Estate broker's license. Then, he and Mary Jane, opened Starck Realtors in 1960, which he operated until he retired in 1980. His son, Andy and grandson, Aaron, have continued to operate and expand the business to numerous offices in the Chicago area. While in Mt Prospect IL and later in Austin TX where he retired, he was active in the Rotary Club, Civic Clubs, and Sons of American Revolution. He also enjoyed playing golf, sailing, tennis and flying airplanes. In Austin, he mentored students and worked at the Christian Service Center at the Church of Christ. He was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church and attended Covenant Presbyterian and University Avenue Church of Christ with his wife. Bob was predeceased by twin sister, Ruth Meltzer, who died in May of this year. He is survived by wife, Mary Jane, with whom he shared 67 years, his son Andy Starck and wife Sharon, Arlington Heights IL, daughter, Robin Collins and spouse, Roger of Mansfield TX. Grandchildren, Caleb Lutsch and wife, Lanetta, Grand Prairie TX, Shannon Kersemier and spouse Craig, of Arlington Heights IL, Aaron Starck and wife, Carrie, of Wauconda IL, and Natasha Lutsch of Mansfield TX. He also is survived by nine great-great children. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at half past the hour of eight o'clock until ten o'clock in the morning, on Thursday, the 4th of October 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Following the time of visitation, a funeral service will be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Mitchell and Dr. Eddie Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Dr, Austin, TX 78757; and Christian Service Center, 1903 University Dr, Austin TX 78705.
