Margaret Mallory Obituary
Margaret Mallory Margaret (Muggs) Mallory, passed away in Austin, Texas, on Monday, January 28, 2013. Born at home to Ned and Carey Pierson, on December 29, 1916, in Excelsior, Minnesota, she attended Carleton College and later, the University of Houston. In 1941 she married Dr. William Leary and, in 1951, moved with her family to Houston, Texas. Divorced in 1971 she married Barron Mallory and lived in New York City from 1972 to 1982. Following her divorce from Barron Mallory, she moved to Austin, Texas, where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her first son, Michael Leary, and is survived by her children; Steve Leary, Jean Works and Maggie Leary; grandchildren Peter Works-Leary, Callie Works-Leary, Parker Leary, Joel Leary, William Leary, Margaret Yerkovich and Liza Mossler; and great grandchild London Blumberg. Muggs loved to draw, write, and create cards, wreaths and all manner of objects from her collection of seed pods, dried leaves, and various odd and ends collected over the years. An avid gardener, she was a member of the Herb Society of America. She was dearly loved by her family and many friends and will be fondly remembered. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, 605 Robert E. Lee Road, Austin, Texas, 78704.
