Rebecca Louise Beckmann Howerton Rebecca Louise Beckmann Howerton unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013. She was born May 12, 1934 in Blanco, Texas. She attended Blanco Public School and graduated with a degree in teaching from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) with a major in Physical Education and a minor in English. She enjoyed 44 years of teaching in Blanco, New Braunfels, Yoakum, Port O'Connor, Sugarland, Fredericksburg, and Houston. She received several teaching awards including being named Teacher of the Year in 1984 at FM Black School, Houston. While teaching in Houston, she also served as the English Department Chair at FM Black Middle School. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Cora Beckmann. She is survived by two daughters, Renee Howarton and Roxanne Parker, by Renee's husband, Bill Wikrent, and two grandsons Richard Parker and Evan Lynch and his wife, Stephanie. There are four great-grandsons, Christian, Caston, Grayson and Liam as well as many loving family members and dear friends. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crofts - Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 1st at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco. Interment will follow the Blanco Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations: Blanco Trinity Lutheran Church, Blanco Pioneer Museum, Blanco Good Samaritan and Food Pantry, or the Blanco EMS.
