Henry J. Simiele

Obituary Condolences

Henry J. Simiele Henry J. Simiele of Dallas, 94, passed away quietly in his sleep at Baylor Garland Hospital in the early morning hours of January 30, 2013. A graduate of the University of Texas, "Hank" had a long and successful career with Texas Power and Light, rising to Superintendent of Generation before his retirement in 1985. He was an avid golfer, who loved to play golf and spend time with friends at Eastern Hills Country Club in Dallas. Hank was also a lieutenant in the Army's 147th Combat Engineers and landed on Omaha Beach on June 6th, 1944, and continued across Europe; promoted to Captain prior to VE Day. While he was never wounded in battle, he was finally sent home during occupation due to contracting a severe illness while restoring the public water supply in a German city. At the onset of the war, he had a deferment due to his working in a foundry in Cleveland, Ohio, but volunteered anyway to do his part to serve this Country. Like many of the fine young soldiers who served in World War II, he very seldom spoke of it until in his later years. Hank was a loving husband and Father to his wife Melba (deceased) and his son Byron of Dallas. Other survivors include his sister-in-law Billye Jo Reed of Round Rock, nephew John Reed and family of Round Rock, nephew Robert Reed and family of Austin and numerous other family members located in the Cleveland, Ohio area. A visitation from 1:00-2:00PM will be held at Beck Funeral Home, Round Rock on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Graveside services will be held following the visitation at Palm Valley Lutheran Church of Round Rock, Texas.
