Margaret (Jenkins) Kaufman, age 81, beloved by her family and all who called her friend, died in San Antonio, Texas on February 21st, 2014.
A long-time resident of Austin, Margaret was born in Austin, Texas on November 15, 1932 to Ed and Elrena Jenkins. She grew up spending time on the Twidwell family farm in Henley, Texas. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Austin and graduated from Austin High School.
In 1951, she married Bill Kaufman. They were married for 48 years until his death in 1999. Their family enjoyed house boating on Lake Austin for many years and later moved their fun times to the lake house on Lake Buchanan in Burnet, Texas. She enjoyed vacations with family and life-long friends to the Texas Coast. Later travels took her to Hawaii and Italy.
Margaret worked in Austin for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. Her retirement allowed her time to volunteer at Seton Hospital, Meals on Wheels and the Austin Senior Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kaufman and her mother, Elrena Jenkins.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Franklin (Bill) of San Antonio, Texas; son, Patton Kaufman (Elayne) of Belton, Texas; Grandchildren: Meredith Franklin (Houston, TX), Brandon Franklin (Austin, TX), Carolyn Jackson (Kyle) (Winston-Salem, NC), and Catherine Kaufman (Dallas, TX); Great-grandchild Clifton Jackson; Brother, John Jenkins (Clarice) of Albuquerque, NM; Sisters-in-law Wanda Sites (Walter), Teenie Hefner, Darlene Bushover (Fred) and Mary Retallack (Monty), Billie Kaufman and Patricia Kaufman; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from Three o'clock until Five o'clock in the afternoon, on Sunday, the 23rd of February 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
The funeral service will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 24th of February 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will be held in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery Austin, Texas.
