MARLATT, Vera Steger|
Vera Steger Marlatt, passed peacefully into the Heavenly realms to join her husband Jimmie Marlatt on February 19, 2014. Her loving family was by her side throughout the several days she was in the hospital. She was 94 years old.
Vera was born in Louisburg, Kansas October 21, 1919. Her proud parents were Thomas Steger and Ella Mae Kaiser Steger. She was preceded in death by both parents and her older brothers George, Homer, and Phil Steger.
Vera graduated high school in Louisburg and lived there until she met the love of her life Jimmie, while he was there working. They were married in September 1945 and moved to Amarillo, TX. They would have been married 67 years before Jimmie passed away in 2012. In Amarillo, Vera launched her great career of being the best mom to her son, David and her daughter, Deborah. She was chauffeur, mentor, teacher, cheerleader, and best friend. Deb and Dave got "Carrier of the Month" for delivering papers, when in reality; Mom should have received the award. She always put the family before her own needs.
In 1986, Vera and Jimmie moved to Lake Travis, Austin, TX, to be closer to their son, Dave Marlatt of Austin, and their daughter, Deborah Marlatt Dennen of Dallas, TX. Many wonderful weekends were spent on the lake with her two beloved grand children, Jarrett Dennen of Dallas, and Megan Dennen of Austin. They will miss their "Nan Naw".
Vera was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a constant provider of laughter. She always had a smile and enjoyed her many friends in the neighborhood and the Hudson Bend Garden Club. We all will miss her deeply.
We love you Mom.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 with service following at 2:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734.
