1973 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
EDWARDS, Michael HeathMichael Heath Edwards, a native son of Texas, passed away at his home in Bastrop, and entered Heaven on February 22, 2014. Heath was born in Austin, Texas on October 23, 1973, to Rusty Edwards and Wilda Vasquez. He was 40 years old. He was raised and educated in Bastrop graduating from Bastrop High School in 1992. He attended Tarleton State University and Northeast Texas Community College and majored in Agriculture. At Northeast Texas he was on the Rodeo Team and traveled to rodeos in Texas and Louisiana. Heath was a bright, enthusiastic individual who loved learning from an early age. He was inquisitive and creative and loved writing contemporary stories. He enjoyed reading; his favorite book was Lonesome Dove. He enjoyed listening to country music, rock 'n' roll and dancing. He loved all sports and especially supported the Texas A & M Aggies. One of his favorite tunes is the Aggie War Hymn. He loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. He enjoyed riding horses for pleasure as well as working cattle and team roping. Working and having fun on the family ranch at Walnut Creek afforded him many opportunities for work , playing and developing skills needed for becoming a skilled team roper as well as a experienced horseman. Welcoming him to heaven are his grandparents, Freddie and Shirley Edwards and Alfred and Rosa Lee Lowden, and great-grandparents, Hall and Ethel Tarver and Jess and Cora Chrisner and one of his dogs, Chance. Surviving family members include: Father, Rusty Edwards and wife Lorraine; Mother, Wilda and husband, Ismael Vasquez; sister, Malinda Edwards Vinklarek and nephews, Clay and Caden, and step-brother and his wife, Matt and Misty Vasquez of Rosanky and their children, Brooke, Katy and Audrey. Also, surviving are his aunt and uncles: Joe and Carol Shull, of Arlington, Virginia; and Herbert and Teresa Sladek of Dale, Texas. Other survivors are his cousins Austin Shull, of New York City; Amanda Shull of Washington, D.C. as well as Alan and Dawn Sladek of North Richland Hills, along with their children Claire and Jack; and Paul and Jennifer Sladek of Round Rock, Texas. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends in Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Rockne and Dale. He also is survived by his beloved and faithful blue heeler dogs: Reno, Molly, Petie, Penny, and Scooter. Services will be at Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas, 2079 Highway 71E as follows: Visitation: Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 28, at 10:00 am.
