Carolyn Henderson EWALD Obituary
Video Memory
EWALD, Carolyn Henderson

Carolyn Henderson Ewald born April 14, 1938 passed on Monday, March 24th 2014 at North Austin Hospital after losing her battle with cancer. She was 75 years old. She leaves to cherish her loving husband Alvin Ewald for over 55 loving years and two children, Elizabeth R. Ewald of Austin (Lisa Thomas-daughter-in-law) and Edward Ward of Birmingham, Al.; Three grandchildren, Alexey and Mary Ewald (Austin) and Crystal Carter of Huntsville, Al. She was preceded in death by her parents; Andrew Perry Henderson and Elizabeth Margret Henderson sisters and brother's: Mildred Appling, Evelyn Louise Jones (Baby Sister), Andrew Perry Henderson (Buddy), James H. Henderson (Jessie), Grover Owens Henderson, Lochlin Henderson and survived by two sisters; Mary Helen Hamerick (86 of Birmingham, Al.) and Margret Thackerson (92 of Whittier, California).

Carolyn was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to Austin where she met the love of her life and raised their daughter. Carolyn retired from the State Board of Insurance after 25 years of service where she worked as an insurance auditor. Carolyn was a long time member of the Great Hills Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and sealed her fate with him long ago through baptism. Psalms 30: 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.

Carolyn will truly be missed. However, it is encouraging to know that she made her peace with the Lord and is now resting in his arms. The days will not be the same without her voice calling to give orders of what needs to be done, and when to do it. We will miss her commanding voice ending with "I love you!" and we respond Sweetheart, Mom, we love you too!

"We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love...and then we return home." Safe passage Mom, save a place for us!

The family would like to say a special thanks to mom's doctors and nurses at North Austin Medical Center: Dr. Charbeneau, Dr. Phillips, and Nurses: Johanna, Jesus, Kim, Amy, Rose Marie, Amy, Hayat, Sara, Monette, Janet, Barb, Joanne, Osondu. Also, to the following Texas Oncology doctor's: Dr. Donner and Dr. Sandbach.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 27th of March 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 28th of March 2014, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
