Jennings passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Pueblo West, CO after a long fight with Alzheimer's.



Jennings, known by all as Bud or Buddy was born October 8, 1936, as the only child of Jennings Alford Garrett and Sarah Enola Morris in Grand Saline, TX. He married Jacqueline 'Jill' Harvey on July 11, 1959 and they had two children.



Jennings graduated from the University of Texas in 1958 and worked for the New York Life Insurance Company and Maryland Life Insurance Company, before starting to work for himself in 1967. Over the years, Jennings built homes and shopping centers; supported the community with the Jaycees, youth sports leagues, local beauty pageants, the YMCA, the Boy Scouts and the Camp Fire Girls; and shipped commodities. Most importantly, he gave his life to his savior Jesus Christ and was ordained in the Orthodox Catholic Church and faithfully served in the Elder Care Ministry, Healing and Prayer Ministry and 'Faith Alive'.



Jennings is survived by his wife, Jill, of Pueblo West, CO; his son, Jennings A. 'Jag' (and Dawn) Garrett, III of Pueblo West, CO; his daughter, Jana Mischele (and CDR Eric, Ret.) Mathiesen of Surry County, VA; his six grandchildren, Sarah Rachel Garrett, Rebecca Dawn Garrett, Josiah Adam Garrett and Jared Andrew Garrett of Pueblo West, CO; Randi Mischele Mathiesen and Samantha Ann Mathiesen of Surry County, VA; and two great grandsons, Gavin Michael Dabb and Isaac Hunter Dabb of Surry County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Sarah Garrett.



A Viewing will be at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 N. Lamar in Austin, TX on Friday, April 4th from 6-8 pm and a Graveside Service will be at Assumption Cemetery at 3650 South IH35, Austin, TX on Saturday, April 5th at 11 am.



In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to SolAmor Hospice at 'solamorhospicefoundation.org'.
