Carmen Zapata HERRERA

1946 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
HERRERA, Carmen Zapata

Carmen Zapata Herrera, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, was called to join our Heavenly Father June 30, 2014. Born November 7, 1946 to Charles and Mary Zapata, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by brother George Zapata and her loving husband and soul mate, Max "Mike" Herrera.

Carmen is survived by her children: Chris Vega, Monica Huerta Perez and Raymond Huerta Jr. Grandchildren: Desiree' Galvan, Raymond Huerta III, Jourdan Sarate, Trevor Vega, Brandon Huerta, Morgan Vega, Cyrae' Huerta, and Chazz Perez III. Great-Grandchildren: Cash Galvan, Ava Galvan and Jaxon Galvan. Siblings: Charles Zapata Jr., Pete Zapata, and Cynthia Zapata. As well as many nephews and nieces, and numerous friends.

Carmen loved music and was a fantastic dancer. She had an engaging and outgoing personality and a very quick wit. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, sharing a meal, engaging in heartfelt conversation, and enjoying a game of bingo every now and then. Throughout her human resources and marketing career, she was a valued employee of Saint Edward's University, Oltorf Clinic for Occupational Medicine and Pinkerton Security Services.

The void she leaves is immeasurable, and the pain is great, but we know we will see her again. Rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 7:00 pm, Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane. Mass on Thursday, July 10, 10:00 am, San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, burial at Assumption Cemetery.
