Katherine Mangano "Kat" Kilbride of Georgetown, TX, died on July 7, 2014 after a 16-month courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born to Katherine Monistere Mangano and Theodore Mangano on May 1, 1944 in Hammond, LA.
Kat met the love of her life, Earl, at Southeastern Louisiana University. There she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. They were married for 48 years. They settled in Metairie, LA where she taught Biology at Archbishop Chapelle High School, she was an Adjunct Professor at Delgado Community College, and she served as an Assistant Principal at Cabrini High School. She received her Masters of Science Teaching from the University of New Orleans. She and Earl retired to Sun City in Georgetown, TX in 2005. Kat lived life to the fullest, playing bridge, line dancing, traveling, learning Spanish, and her most favorite joy spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; son, Timothy and wife Julie of Metairie, LA; son, Earl Jr. and wife Renee and their sons: Trey, Lane and Cade all of Austin, TX; daughter, Kandi Ludwig and husband Aaron, their children: Harper and Nolan Ludwig all of Indianapolis, IN. Kat is also survived by her sister, Mary Ledet and husband Joseph of Marrero, LA; brother, Ted Mangano and wife Renee of Ponchatoula, LA. Kat has a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all in Louisiana and Texas.
A time of Visitation will begin at 10 am on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Ramsey Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home. Please join the family for a reception to celebrate Kat's life and friendship following the service at Cowan Creek's Georgetown Room.
The family will also hold a Visitation at 9 am on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 N. Oak Street, Hammond, LA with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be private.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of MD Anderson, Texas Oncology and Hospice Compassus for their help and support during Kat's journey.
