Mildred "Millie" Margaret Jolley Mildred "Millie" Margaret Jolley, loving mother, Nana, Granny, friend and faithful servant to the Lord, passed away on August 12, 2008, at the age of 92. She was born in Lockhart, TX to Henry H. and Anna Katherine Schweers Heyen on October 15, 1915. Millie grew up in Lockhart where she was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church. She attended public schools and was a cheerleader for Lockhart High School. She worked for Glosserman's Clothiers in downtown Lockhart for many years. In 1933 she became the proud mother to Dave Smith of Lockhart, a gifted athlete of his day, who played football for Texas A&M and later entered a career coaching football, spending many years on the coaching staff at Southern Methodist University. She met Floyd William Jolley, of Lockhart, TX, and the couple were married in Santa Anna, California in 1943 and moved to Austin following WWII. Milllie was a member of the "Aggie Mom's Club" in the early 1950s. She was employed at the very popular Scarborough's Department Store on Congress Avenue in Austin prior to the birth of her daughter in 1960. The AISD PTA and City Council PTA were proud to have her as a heavily involved member where she served on many committees and hosted many events from the '60s and '70s. In 1972, she was awarded an Honorary Life Membership from the Texas Congress of Parents & Teachers, the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Texas PTA honoring individuals for outstanding service for children and youth. Millie was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years and an active member in the United Methodist Women's Group for many years. She will be remembered for her kind and generous giving spirit to all who knew her. Her husband Floyd William Jolley preceded her in death. Millie is survived by daughter, Lisa Jolley King and husband Wesley of Austin, and by her grandson, Geoffrey Jolley Frost, who brought her immeasurable joy over the past 23 years. She is survived by son, Joel Davis "Dave" Smith, Jr. and wife Judy of Granbury, TX, who always encouraged her with their kind ways and inspiring words, grandson, Greg Smith and wife Katie of Dallas, great-grandchildren, Amy, Blake, Stephen and Mary Beth, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her only granddaughter, Ann Katherine Smith of Dallas whose faithful devotion to her "One and Only Granny" will always be cherished. Other survivors include her niece, LuciAnne Alderdice and husband Bill of Dallas, and niece, Beverly Sloan of Duncanville, TX, who were always so loving and caring to their "Aunt Millie", special cousin, Joe Henry Bunch of Lockhart, who always brought a smile to her face, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank caretakers Fay Davis and Sarah Wright for their tender, compassionate care and dedication. Appreciation also goes out to Dr. Kenneth Kroll, Sylvia Alvarado, Ella Baylor, Girling Home Health and Hospice Austin, with special thanks to Vicki Fowler and Shelly O'Neal. An extended thank you to all her faithful friends, family, church members and staff for their loyal support, calls, cards, visits and prayers. A heartfelt thank you to lifelong friends Dorothy Andrews and Kathy Taylor, longtime neighbors Don and Irene Cunningham, Douglas Williams, and to Hazel and Ellis Clark of Lockhart and Bill and Anne Clark of Lockhart for their caring love and friendship. Serving as pallbearers will be great-nephews Richard Davidson of Duncanville, TX, Kal Davidson of Ovilla, TX, Terry Davidson of Ovilla, TX, great-grandson, Stephen Smith of Dallas, special friends Charles Taylor of Austin and Bill Clark of Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Henry Bunch and Ellis Clark, both of Lockhart. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2140 Allandale Road, Austin, Texas.
