Obituary Condolences

Lydia Chapman Lydia Chapman left her earthly home to be with the Lord, October 22, 2009, at her home. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Claryce and Glen Wilson in Pottsboro, Texas on Lake Texoma. Lydia was born January 21, 1919 in Granger, Texas. She lived most of her life in Austin and Round Rock until 2008 when she moved to the Lake Texoma area to be with her daughter and family. Lydia loved spending time with her family, especially her children and her sisters. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking meals and baking "sweet goodies" for family and friends. Gardening and growing roses and lots of flowers was close to her heart. Arranging flowers was a special talent that grew into a business. Lydia began oil painting in her late 50s. She and her husband Les, sold her florals, paintings, and his woodcrafts at Arts and Crafts shows throughout Texas when she retired after 25 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1984. She also loved fishing with her husband Les and friends, especially on the Texas Coast. They traveled to nearly every state in their 53 years of marriage. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Les Chapman, her parents, four sisters and one brother. Surviving are daughter, Claryce and husband Glen Wilson; son, Billy Smith; and son, Tommy Chapman; grandchildren, Trina and husband Ken Wiles, Trey Wilson, Teri and husband Bob Sullivan, Kim and husband Brian Rankin, Krystal Smith, Ryan and wife Holly Chapman, Ross Chapman, Andy Vitz, Cody Vitz; great-grandchildren, Charley Wiles, Kenny Wiles, Erin and Kaci Rankin and Caden Smith; sisters, Dorothy Grimm and Frances Tallas. Lydia was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas since 1949. Rev. Dan Gardner will officiate at her services. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 28th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and a service celebrating Lydia' life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29th in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Committal services and interment will follow in the Garden of Roses at the Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery.
