David D. Kelly

Obituary Condolences

David D. Kelly On Monday, January 18, 2010, the angels descended and softly wrapped their loving wings around David D. Kelly and carried him back into the arms of the Lord. His journey began at home while surrounded by his loving family in Austin, Texas. David was born in New York, N.Y., to David and Louise Kelly on January 30, 1923. He married the love of his life, his "Schatze" (Sweetheart), Josefine Schönstetter in 1951. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in- law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished every moment with his family, playing bridge and telling stories of his WW II Naval experiences while aboard the USS Cogswell. He is survived by: his wife, Josefine; nine children, David Jr.; Eileen and husband, Rick; Gerry and wife Linda; Brian and wife, Becky; Grace and husband, Joe; Gordon and wife, Alisa; Joyce, Judy, and Lori and husband, Don; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. David's devout Catholic faith and his ever-present Kelly philosophy of love brought so much strength and comfort to all who were blessed to know and love him. Wir lieben Dich, Opa. Viewing will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Cook-Walden, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5909 Reicher Drive, Austin, TX 78723. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Life League, P.O. Box 1350 Stafford, VA 22555.
