Martha Stucklen Cassidy Martha Stucklen Cassidy died peacefully just after midnight Saturday morning, March 13, 2010, in her 99th year. A celebration of Martha's life will be held on her 100th birthday, April 20, 2010. In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Brevard/ Davidson River Presbyterian Church, 3 Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712, honoring Martha's memory, is suggested. Born in Boston, Mass. on April 20, 1910, Martha Wilhelmina was the daughter of Arthur and Martha Koppe Stucklen. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston in 1931. Martha married Henry Cassidy, a foreign news correspondent, in 1933. They traveled extensively and maintained a home in Paris, France until 1951. Thereafter, they held homes in New York City and Dutchess County, New York. Following Mr. Cassidy's death in 1988, she lived in Brevard, NC, where she was a member of Brevard/Davidson River Presbyterian Church. In 2005, Martha Cassidy moved to Fort Worth to be close to her family. Mrs. Cassidy was a highly accomplished artist, who sold a number of paintings and won numerous prizes. In addition to her daughter, Constance Cassidy Mahaffey, Martha is survived by her granddaughter, Andrea Brim and her husband, Rick; and great-grandchildren, Eric, Travis, Lauren and Ryan, all of Fort Worth.
