David Thomas Norman May 24, 1938 - Jan. 15, 2011 David's family and friends gathered to celebrate his life Jan. 29, 2011. David's grandson Timothy Milder read a poem by Henry Scott Holland reminding everyone that his grandfather is "but waiting... somewhere very near, just around the corner." White doves signify peace, love, unity and hope. The family made arrangements for a white dove release accompanied by "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. Rebecca Bratton, owner of Lone Star Dove Release, quoted Psalm 55:6 "Oh that I had wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest." Family and friends shared a BBQ meal. David's nephew Wesley Walden provided music. The celebration was lighthearted and joyous as photos and stories of David's life were shared. David was remembered for his bear hugs and the unmistakable twinkle in his eyes. He loved to dance and occasionally would sing. He was more excited about Christmas than his children or grandchildren. He liked his 501 button down Levi's and a comfortable pair of boots. He liked to grow a garden; he produced some of the best tomatoes; he loved to watch his flowers bloom. He could build one hell of a choo choo. He taught his four children how to play hard, work hard, and look out for each other. He was their friend and confidante. He was not a disciplinarian but a certain look could get the desired action from his children. His children loved him and never wanted to disappoint him. He was a proud man. When he made his mind up, there was no changing it. He was transparent, and if David loved someone, they knew it. David was preceded in death by two of his sons: David Wade Norman and Daniel Thomas Norman. He thought about them often and knew one day he would be reunited with them. His daughter Karen Norman Milder and his son Tim Norman will place a matching memorial stone in honor of their father beside his sons' graves in Hutto, TX. Son, Brother, Father, Lover, Friend. There is room in the heart for all the affections, as there is room in heaven for all of the stars. -Victor Hugo Daddy, I love you, I will not forget... ever.
