Ruby Mae Powell Ruby Mae Powell passed away peacefully with son, Robert, at her side in their home on May 23, 2012 in Lago Vista, Texas at the age of 91 years. Ruby was born in Salem, Ohio on August 20 of 1920 and later moved to North Canton, Ohio. She took great pride as a home maker caring for her husband and son and enjoyed embroidering with liquid paint, being in a women's bowling league and socializing with family and friends. Some of her favorite jobs were when she worked at the soda fountain for Schaeffer Messerly Rexall Drug Store, as a file clerk for The Hoover Company (also in North Canton), selling Avon to friends and family and being employed as an in home caregiver for several years after her husband passed away. She loved being a grandmother and took pride in her grandson, Jonathan, and his many accomplishments. Ruby is survived by son Robert Powell, daughter-in-law Leeda Powell, grandson Jonathan Powell all of Lago Vista Texas, great niece Susan Evanoff of Massillon Ohio, great nephew Bradley Teis of North Canton Ohio, great niece Nancy Stangelo of Alliance Ohio, along with many great-great nieces and nephews. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Harry Powell, mother Blanch Spencer, step father Harold Spencer, father Archie Ward, sister Dorothy Smith, brother Russell Ward and niece Shirley Teis. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care Ruby received over the past year from Grace Hospice of Austin. The care and friendship was a blessing not only to Ruby but to her family as well. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. Per Ruby's wishes there will be no funeral service. The family will plan a memorial service at a later date in North Canton, Ohio and would also like to thank the Neptune Society/Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
