Louise Green Polley Harris Obituary
Louise Green Polley Harris 1929-2012 Louise passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Louise was born September 14, 1929, the 3rd of 5 children to Gustavus Brooks and Cecil (Lee) Green in Eden, TX. She married David Lyle Polley and had 6 children. Louise worked for the City of Austin, supporting the 911 Emergency Management Systems. After retiring, she married James Eugene Harris and was able spend her time traveling and enjoying the company of her soul mate. Throughout her life, Louise loved to research her family's history. Her ancestors first came to Texas in the 1820's with Stephen F. Austin as part of the "Old 300" and her relatives still live in the Central Texas area. Louise willingly gave of her time to the Daughter's of the Republic of Texas (DRT) and the Children of the Republic of Texas (CRT) by serving many hours at the French Legation and the DRT Museum in Austin, TX. Louise is survived by her children: Greg (and Donna) Polley of Lindale, GA; Mark (and Margie) Polley of Lenoir City, TN; Eric Polley of Dallas, TX; Cheryl (and Dave) Serrano of Fountain, CO; Dawn (and Jag) Garrett of Pueblo West, CO and Cindy (and Paul) Worley of Huffman, TX; her brothers, Gus (and Betty) Green of Fort Worth, TX and Robert (and Billye) Green of Las Cruces, NM; sister-in-law, Marty Green of Placitas, NM; as well as 26 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustavus and Cecil; her brothers, Cecil and J. Wiley; and her husband, James Eugene Harris. Services will be at the Waldrop-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home at 307 E. Sandstone Street in Llano, TX. The internment will be a private service at the Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the DRT.
