Walter Franklin Obituary
Walter V. Franklin, Jr. Walter V. Franklin, Jr., 77, of Austin, passed away December 14, 2012. He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Wanda; daughter, Debbie Bennett and husband Tony of Pflugerville; daughter, Carrie Henderson and husband Billy of Lexington; and son, Walter Franklin of Austin. In addition, he is survived by nine grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Holler, Kristen, Tiffany and Jessica Barron, Brittney Franklin, Dana Kanetzky, Janna Wolter, and William Henderson, as well as eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sally Goodrich and husband Harold of Rohnert Park, CA. Walt graduated from Ft. Hood High School in 1953. He attended Cisco Jr. College in Texas and Santa Rosa Jr. College in California before joining the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country for 21 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later earned a Masters Degree in Business from Park College. Walt will be remembered for his strong dedication and love for family, friends, and country. He lived life to its fullest and had a great sense of humor, which will always be remembered. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pflugerville, where he served as a Deacon and choir member for many years. Walt had a strong faith in God and great courage which he demonstrated to the end as he said on December 11th when faced with uncertainty of life that "Only God Can Decide". Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Pflugerville Building Fund at First Baptist Church, 306 S. 10th Street, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
