Gail Kay Obituary

Gail M. Kay Gail M. Kay passed peacefully in her sleep at home in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, March 3rd. 2013. Gail was born to Ralph and Irene Hamme in Edinburg, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Don and her children, Tom, Karl and Kristi and grandchildren, Brian, Mathew, Kolby, Kaylee and Logan. Gail graduated with an Art History degree from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Gail was an accomplished artist who loved all types of art media and excelled in oil painting, ceramics and marble sculpture. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed all of nature's beauty. She had a passion for expanding young minds and introducing new generations to the beauty of art and reading. Gail had an infectious laugh and a keen sense of humor--despite living with years of chronic pain. Gail maintained a vast array of friends throughout her life; including a circle all the way from high school to friends in the neighborhood. She was a spiritual person with the peace and comfort of the Lord. A visitation for friends and family will be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning and immediately followed by the Memorial service at eleven o'clock, on Monday the 8th of April, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gail's honor to The Wounded Warrior Project. P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675, or you may donate directly by visiting the website at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Condolences may be sent to www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com.

My favorite memory of Gail was the beautiful picture of her on the mirror, in the window of the studio next to the Palm Cafe.
Her father was one of my most loved people.

Gail was a dear friend of ours. In fact, my husband and I introduced her to Don years ago. She was a wonderful person, loved life, and brought happiness to all that knew her. She will be sadly missed, but please know that she has always had a place in our hearts and will continue to do so. Our deepest condolences.

Gail was one of my oldest and most dear friends. I am saddened by her passing and for the fact that I cannot come and pay my last respects. I am recovering from the removal of a benign brain tumor but am doing well...just will be house bound for next few weeks. My love to Don and the children along with my most sincere sympathies.
