James Raguet Irion III Obituary
James Raguet Irion III James Raguet Irion III (Jim) made his way to heaven on April 8, 2013 in Austin, Texas. Jim was born in Witchita Falls and spent his entire life in the State of Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas Law School. Jim's family was truly Texanna with a long and impressive history that played a role in the early years of the Texas Republic; he was quite proud of this. His great grandfather, Robert Anderson Irion, was Sam Houston's Secretary of State and Ambassador to England and France for the Republic of Texas. His great grandmother, Anna Raguet, designed the Republic's official seal which is still used today by the State of Texas. Jim loved the practice of law which showed in his successes as an attorney. However, as much as he loved his work, the love he had for his family was unparalleled. He never could speak a mean word to his kids and absolutely adored spending time with them. Jim was the kindest, most giving individual to ever walk this Earth. Every person who ever knew him, whether for 50 years or 5 minutes, appreciated his gift of making you feel right at home and his fantastic sense of humor. He thought of everyone as family and always welcomed them as such. His huge heart shined through his bright blue eyes and his smiling face would always light up a room. He was a gentle giant who, when he would mow the lawn, would literally mow around the buttercups. His love for animals was apparent by the many, many pets his children had throughout the years. To him, a house full of family and friends was heaven. It is fitting that, when he left this world, his house was full of people who loved and admired him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Kelly Irion, and father, James Raguet Irion, Jr. He is survived by his bride of 41 years, Veniece Matlock Irion, who lovingly cared for him in their home during his illness. He is also survived by his children, Chris Irion and his wife, Debbie, Jana McCain, James Raguet Irion IV and his wife, Renee, Anna Raguet Irion Schotz and her husband, Mark, his grandchildren, Chad Irion, Chelsea Irion, Bo McCain, Carolyn-Grace Irion, Coulter Benites, James Irion V, and Luke Irion, and the McLellan family. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends; his humor will linger on as they will promise to share his endless one liners and jokes. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar followed by interment at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the James R. Irion III Memorial Fund at the Compass Bank located at 4100 N Lamar, Austin, Texas 78756. Obituary and guestbook available online at www.wcfish.com
