Beaumont Clifford Girdley Jr. Obituary
Beaumont Clifford (B.C.) Girdley, Jr. B. C. Girdley, 92, of Austin died peacefully in his sleep on April 12, 2013. He was born on April 18, 1920 in Midland, Texas to Lucy Cowden Girdley and B.C. Girdley, Sr. B.C. was raised in Midland, attended Midland High School and the University of Texas in Austin. He enlisted in the service and served as a chief warrant officer with the Army Air Corps in India during WWII. While stationed in Ft. Worth before shipping off to India, he met his wife of 60 years, Mary Christian; after his return from India, they married in New York City, and raised their three children in Midland. They moved to Austin in 1984 where they were members of the University Avenue Church of Christ together for 20 years and he for 28 years. Mr. Girdley is survived by his daughter Beverly Keeton of Austin; daughter, Debbie Crockett and husband Mike of Austin; son Bill Girdley of Keller; grandchildren Bo Crockett and wife Brooke of New Haven, Connecticut, Christian Srp and husband Mike of Boerne, and MC Martin and husband Joe of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Cal, Amelia and Evelyn Crockett, Crockett Srp and Sadie Bray Martin. Mr. Girdley was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, and brother Fred. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Austin Graduate School of Theology 1909 University Avenue Austin, Texas 78705, a children's home or a . Services in Midland will be under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555.
