Thomas Nelson Taylor Thomas Taylor died in Austin, Texas on Sunday, July 28, 2013. He was one week shy of his 84th birthday. He was unique man; funny, wise, loving, and a wonderful raconteur. Tom was the son of Oliver Addison Taylor and Elizabeth Drake Taylor. Addison Taylor was descended from an old Austin family and returned to Austin with his family when Tom was in elementary school. Tom attended Fulmore Middle School, Austin High School, and the University of Texas. He served with distinction in the army during the Korean War and was wounded in action. After his discharge he moved to San Francisco where he lived for 50 years. He returned to Austin two years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters. Tom's passions were opera, travel, vintage films, and fine food. During the fifties he was often a supernumerary at the San Francisco opera. He attended almost all the productions there as well as many recitals and symphony concerts. He had a deep knowledge of the history of singing and the voice. Tom is survived by his loving partner of 43 years, William K. Wallace. They were married this spring in Seattle, Washington. His beloved niece Martha Jane Taylor and nephew Tom Taylor were close and loving relatives. He is survived by niece Stella Mary Taylor and nephew Addison Taylor. His beloved friend Pamela Keith and adoptive granddaughter Taylor Keith were in Austin to ease his passing. His adored dog, Pamina, has been deeply affected by his death. Tom will be greatly missed by his many friends. The family wants to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses at Seton Brackenridge with particular thanks to Karyn Swallow, an extraordinarily caring and compassionate nurse. In accordance with Tom's wishes there will be no service.
