Robert W. Hempel

Robert "Bob" W. Hempel Bob Hempel ended his life's journey after a long courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 26, 2013 at age 70. He received his education from Belleville Township High School, Northwestern University and graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. Bob lived in Texas from 1966-2000 and returned in 2000 to his hometown of Belleville, Illinois. He was the originator of the Fellini cue case and made these collectible cases from 1972-1982 with his partner Ann Gore. He pursed his passion of pool by mentoring, teaching and playing pool until his death. Bob is survived by his "forever" fiancé Marietta Ricketts, and many special friends from graduate school and those he treasured from the "world of the pool room" who surrounded him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mary Hempel. Rest in eternal peace in body, mind and spirit; Bob was also a Knight in Shining Armor to Marietta and the "forever" friend to each of us. Memorials can be made to the Siteman Cancer Research Center, St. Louis, Mo and to the Lindenwood's College Pool Program in his memory. His cremains will be interned next to his parents in a private graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
