Sam OLGUIN Obituary
OLGUIN, Sam

Samuel Jesse Olguin was born May 29, 1939 in Maysfield, TX to Fermina "Minnie" & Morris Olguin Sr. and died peacefully October 31, 2013. At the time of his death he was residing in Nursery, TX with his guardian angel, Anna Whitehead.

Sam grew up in Austin; graduating from the original S.F. Austin High School in 1957 where he played varsity football as part of the offensive line; he served in the US Army before studying at The University of Texas at Austin. Sam was an active part of the Austin commercial real estate community for many years and was just as active in the Austin golf scene, serving as President of the USGA - Austin Chapter. On the golf course he established countless friendships and relationships that he still had fond memories of until the day he passed. After countless rounds of the humbling game of golf he was thrilled to finally make a Hole-in-One late in his golf career. In addition to golf, Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, live music and horse-racing. In his later years he loved to support his grandsons in their various sports and other activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Morris Olguin Jr. and Frank Olguin and a sister, Mary Olguin Luna. He is survived by children Amy Olguin Pownall (Kevin), Scott Olguin, Jennifer Olguin Falconer (Frank), Samantha Olguin and 4 grandsons: Bailey Pownall, Mason Pownall, Grayson Olguin, Keegan Olguin. Also his beloved sister, Marie Olguin Caballero (Ralph), and former spouses Betty Cunningham Mitchell and Melanie Barba.
