BIRDWELL, Glenn Howard|
Glenn Howard Birdwell, 60, of Austin was born to Joe and Noralee Birdwell on April 21, 1953, accepted Christ as his savior in 1964, and passed into Jesus' arms on November 9, 2013. Glenn received his BA from The University of Texas and his Masters from Texas State University. In 1987, he married Jeri Mulcahy at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Glenn worked as a painting contractor then as a teacher. He loved teaching history at Concordia University and Temple College, where every class included music, stories, and film. He taught more than history, though. He taught those around him to be better than they were-to walk with honesty, integrity and true grit.
Glenn was happiest spending time with family, from holidays to dominoes to hunting. He was especially blessed by his grandchildren, teaching Tristan the manly arts of hunting and tying the secret knot and wearing princess crowns with Marian and Josey. Glenn also loved his family at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ where he sang in the chorus, taught about church history, and served with the Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jeri; sons Steven Law of Liberty Hill and Adam Law of Yonkers, NY; grandchildren, Tristan, Marian, and Josey; father, Joe Birdwell, of Cranfills Gap; mother Noralee Birdwell of Austin; brother Dale Birdwell of Round Rock; sister, Terri Beck and husband Jim of South Padre Island; sister Conni Robinett and husband David of Abilene. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ in Austin. The visitation will be on Friday from 6:00-8:00PM, and the memorial on Saturday at 1:00PM.
Honorary pallbearers: Steven Law, Adam Law, Dale Birdwell, Blake Birdwell, Tyson Birdwell, Shawn Melber, and David Robinett.
Memorial gifts in Glenn's memory can be made to the Williamson County Humane Society.
