MOODY, Nell Hays

Nell Hays Moody of Austin, who celebrated her 97th birthday earlier this year died on December 10, 2013. Nell was born in Hope, Arkansas on February 3, 1916, to Charles Gaines Hays and Jane Hays.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Marse and husband Pat of Austin, granddaughter Melissa Marse Hopwood and husband Andy of Houston, and precious little great granddaughters Olivia Evans and Nicole Hopwood.

Nell began her career teaching at Guernsey High School after attending Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia Arkansas. In May 1942, she married beloved husband Jay Moody and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she was employed as the only woman precision inspector of the North American Aviation plant in that city. Nell resumed teaching in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1954. In 1959, she became a Real Estate Broker and joined Jay in their real estate business in Hobbs and Ruidoso, New Mexico. They retired in Kerrville, Texas and later moved to Austin to be near to their daughter Linda.

Nell loved music and throughout her lifetime sang in many choirs. A private graveside service will be held at Garden Of Memories in Kerrville, Texas with Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Contributions may be made to Bethany UMC in Austin or to a .
