Jacques Bulhon died on March 12, 2014 in Austin, Texas. He was born in Paris, France on May 1, 1921. He was preceded in death by his parents Jean Gabriel Bulhon and Gilberte Bulhon. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Sylvia Bulhon, his sons by a first marriage, Jean-Pierre and wife Nancy Bulhon of Austin, Gerard and wife Tammy Bulhon of Houston, his stepsons Pierre and wife Karen Malek of Denver, Colorado, Jean-Michel and wife Louise Malek of Houston, his grandchildren Philip, Julia, Melanie, Courtney Bulhon, and Julian, Saul and Gabriel Malek. He is also survived in France by his sister, Madeleine Bruneel and her son Pierre as well as other family in France and in the U.S.
During the German occupation he graduated in France from one of the prestigious Grandes Ecoles, I'Ecole Nationale de Mines de Paris. After a short period of work with the Compagnie Generale de Geophysique, he was transferred to the U.S. in December 1946. There he worked for 36 years with Schlumberger Limited as well as associated companies where he held a variety of management and staff positions. He belonged to several professional organizations and retired in Austin in October 1983. He enjoyed reading, bridge, photography, participated in the University of Texas continuing education programs and traveled extensively.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660. Funeral services will be private for the immediate family.
