Thomas MURPHEY Obituary

MURPHEY III, Thomas Oran T. Murphey was born on May 27, 1982 to Betty Ann and T.O. Murphey, Jr. in Austin, TX. He died in Austin on May 15, 2017. Thomas graduated from Austin High School and received his degree in Communications from Texas State University. He also earned a teaching certificate and taught at O'Henry Junior High where he was once a student. T. had many talents but music drew him into not only performing but seeking out talent he could record. He was the producer on several albums that were recorded at Arlyn Studio in Austin, of which he was also a partner. His memory for music and artists was phenomenal. Thomas had a large responsibility thrust upon him when he was in his 20's. He rose to the challenge and ran his father's and grandfather's businesses for years. He revived and remodeled (in a uniquely Austin style and vibe) A Austin Storage in south Austin. It bears his style and creativity. T. was charming, witty, intelligent, personable, and well liked. He was a sweet, kind and gentle soul and had an adorable unforgettable spirit. He was such a bright young man with a seemingly bright future ahead of him. He was much loved and will be forever missed. Thomas is survived by his stepfather and mother, Gerald and Betty Vance Ronga; his younger sister, Adelaide Lucille Murphey, and step sisters Sara Trumet and Lindsay Ronga and her husband Eric Yeager, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Our precious T. will be interred in a private ceremony. Obituary and memorial guestbook available online at www.wcfish.com

T,

One of the last times I saw you was at Westwood Country club. I was getting into my car and saw a strikingly handsome young man crossing the parking lot. It hit me how much you look like your father. You were dressed up, there must have been some party at the Club. As I watched you walk by I felt a deep happiness tug at my heart. I knew how your father loved you and how proud he would have been of you in that very moment seeing you so shiny and happy and gorgeous. I will hold that moment in my heart and always remember you that happy.
My eternal love goes out to your family.
May the angel of everlasting life hold you close as you soar beyond the stars and live forever in deathless love.

I consider T to be one of closest friends. He was esoteric, artistic, humble, intuitive, and mischievous. We met when I transferred to Austin High in 1998, our Jr year in History class.
We had many similarities, also many differences and through music we made a strong connection which led to a true frienship of 19 years. We were roommates from 2002-2009. Living in San Marcos & going to TX State would've been pretty boring without T. I learned a lot from him, and from his father Tonky, his mother Ms Betty and his talented sister Lucy.
T's social etiquette was impeccable. His musical knowledge was incredibly deep. And his interior design skills and eye for detail were uncanny, he was great at everything he did. His humor and ability to make us laugh is what I miss the most.
I believe he's in a happier place now, alongside his father, watching over his loved ones. Nothing will make this tragedy easier to deal with. But at least I've got enlightening memories of him. Ms Betty & Lucy, I wanted to give the flowers to you ladies, but instead I put it on display at Arlyn. My love goes out to everyone who was close to Thomas Oran Murphey III.

I met him three and a half years ago, and from day one, he was the greatest person that had ever walked this earth in me eyes. He was the brightest light in every room, and the world is a darker place without him. My heart more than hurts. To Betty and Lucy, thank you for being his wonderful mom and sister, because he wouldn't have been the boy that he was without an amazing and loving family. I'm praying that your heart's find peace, and thank you for allowing me the pleasure of knowing your most precious son and brother.
