Cook Walden Davis - Funerals & Cremations

Lester Fisher Lester Fisher passed from this life on October 10, 2006 at his home. He was born on December 30, 1943 in Florence to Emzie Lee Fisher and Elzora Fisher. Lester was a long time rancher and was also employed by the Davis Funeral Home for over thirty years. Lester loved people and he loved history. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ who faithfully ministered to the elderly in the local nursing homes, uplifting them through singing and conversation. Lester was always helping others and in this quest to help the less fortunate of this world, he volunteered with the Jerry McClifton Center in Austin working with special needs children. He was passionate about history and the preservation of it. These passions lead him to be an award winning volunteer with twenty years of service to The Texas Historical Society and also to be a long time member of The Williamson County Historical Commission. Lester was preceded in death by his father, Emzie Fisher. To Lester's parents were born six children, of whom Lester was third. Lester was preceded in death only three months ago by his oldest brother, Eugene Fisher. He is survived by his mother, Elzora Fisher; his brother, Charles Fisher and wife Cindy of Belton; three sisters, Patsy May and husband Ken of Georgetown, Beverly Williams and husband Marvin of Killeen and Peggy Bagby of Dallas; and sister-in-law, Mary Fisher. Lester never married but he has many nieces and nephews that love him tremendously. We have all lost a friend and a historian! The family will receive visitors at Young Memorial Chapel in Florence from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Christ in Georgetown with Brother Ben Mereness officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Hollow Cemetery in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Lester's honor to The Williamson County Cemetery Association or The Williamson County Historical Commission or Save Texas Cemeteries, Inc.
