Richard Tuff Obituary
July 19, 1926 - April 15, 2017
Salem - Richard (Dick) Tuff was born July 19, 1926 in Minot, ND, the son of Agnes and Louis Tuff. He passed away April 15, 2017 in Salem, OR with family at his side.
He served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise, during WWII.
He returned to Minnesota earning accounting and CPA degrees.
He married Lorie Hanson in 1947. With Dick's business education, he became the first tax assessor of Alaska. Dick received a calling to enter the ministry. He graduated from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN, in 1961. He served as a Lutheran Pastor in North Dakota, Alaska, Washington and Oregon.
Lorie passed away in 1990.
He married Joy Zeller Robison in October 1992, making their home in Salemtowne.
Dick was a faithful friend and servant, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dick was preceded in death by Lorie, and son, Ronald. He is survived by his wife, Joy and sisters: Margie Thole and Carole Hubert.
Children: Rick (Shellie) Tuff, Kathy (Randy) Fleiger, and Karen Tuff.
Grandchildren: Kerry (Steve) Fleiger-Holmes, Kristen (Scott) Sweetwater, Brian (Samantha) Tuff, and Laurie Anne Botjen.
Great-Grandchildren: Kahlan and Kasey Fleiger-Holmes, Riley and Reese Sweetwater, and Emma Tuff.
Stepchildren: DeAnn (Jay) Orand, Debra (Steve) Falconbury, Susan (Randy) Cook.
Grandchildren: Jacob (Marissa) Becker Orand, Amanda (Michael) Orand West, and Cary (Carly) Laughlin.
Great-Grandchildren: Kennedy Laughlin and Lucas West.
A Celebration of Life will be 2 pm, Saturday, April, 29th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1770 Baxter Rd. S.E., Salem. Private Inurnment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.

Karen, I remember your dad and the twinkle in his eyes when we would sit in the front row in church and he would look down at us.
He had a great sense of humor and he was a wonderful man. You were fortunate to have him as a part of your life for so many years.
