Bandfield, Leslie Kay (Ritchie)
Leslie Kay Bandfield (Ritchie) September 24, 1958 - August 1, 2015 Leslie Kay Ritchie (Bandfield) died peacefully Saturday, August 1, 2015, at home. She was a South Salem native, born September 24, 1958, the youngest of three other sisters: Linda Wagenhoffer (Tom), Patti Spendal (Jim) and Margo Schroeder (Don); and two brothers: Roger (Julie) and Mark (Jeanine). Leslie's siblings blessed her with nine nieces and nephews who blessed her with 14 great-nieces and -nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her parents, John and Marjorie Ritchie. She is loved and remembered by her family and many friends; and her furry children: Penelope and Boarder, will miss her terribly. Leslie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends the most. That time always included good food and wine, a lot of laughter and interjecting lines from old movies at appropriate times during any conversation. She also loved to travel. She especially remembered her trip to Germany with her best friend Cindy and the long train ride to southern California for a nephew's wedding. Leslie had a 26-year career as a Document Management Technician at Willamette University. The work was both fun and challenging, but her coworkers were the best part of her job. Many of her coworkers dropped by for visits or to take her to lunch. They even lent a hand last year by installing wi-fi and an air conditioning unit in her home while she spent increasing amounts of time at home recovering from various treatments for uterine cancer. Leslie appreciated these acts of kindness so much. The Ritchie family is especially grateful to Beki, Parker, Jennipher and Brad for their loving care, kindness and attention. And to Willamette Valley Hospice for Leslie's care. There will be a gathering of Leslie's family and her many friends Sunday, August 30, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at Hong Kong House Chinese Restaurant and Lounge, in Salem. To Leslie, animals were almost as important as people. So please make a donation to any organization that helps animals and give your pet a giant and gentle hug.
