July 16, 1993 - June 30, 2013

Andrew Jason Moats was born July 16th 1993 to Debbi Luth and Jason Moats. On Sunday, June 30th, Andrew's life was taken too soon in a tragic inner-tubing accident on the Molalla River.

Andrew was a lifelong resident of Hubbard, OR and had just recently moved to the Salem area. Andrew grew up participating in North Marion PRYDE Athletics and his love for sports grew as he entered his high school years. As a student athlete he participated in Football, Baseball and Track. Andrew was a gifted athlete and cherished teammate; building lifelong friendships and memories that they will never forget.

Aside from sports, Andrew had a true passion for the outdoors. He spent countless hours on the water wakeboarding and in the sand riding his quads. Andrew's free time was often spent camping with his family and joining in on vacations with his friends.

Andrew's life was just getting started. He just celebrated his one year anniversary of employment with Landmark Ford and Lincoln where he worked in the Parts Department. He had recently expressed interest in following in the footsteps of his cousin Sean and joining the Army. This past Spring, Andrew was an assistant coach for his cousin Grady's baseball team and was set to coach his PRYDE football team this fall.

Andrew was truly a gift to his family and friends. He had a kind heart that put everyone else's needs first and a smile that could make even the darkest of days bright. Andrew was a light in the lives of all that he touched and his memories will be forever treasured by all who knew him.

Andrew is survived by his parents Debbi and Kevin Luth, Jason and Jennifer Moats, sister Kylene Kiesel, Grandparents Nicki and Gilbert Ruiz, Jerry and Donna Moats, Ed and Londa Groah, Steve and Becky Kiesel, David and Elaine Luth, Marty and Phil Barth, Great Grandparents Hope Price and Ulloa Evans and his extended close knit family. Andrew was preceded in death by his Grandmother Judy Moats.

There will be a potluck celebration of life in honor of Andrew on Saturday the 13th of July at 11am at the Oak Grove in St. Paul, OR 18881 River Rd NE. The family requests in lieu of flowers; a donation to a memorial fund established in Andrew's name be made at any Key Bank Branch.
