He was loved by all (including squirrels) for his generosity, compassion, and amazing sense of humor. He was such an expert coupon clipper that local grocery store staff suggested he teach a class on getting the most groceries for the money. He was an avid hunter/fisherman/outdoorsman, passing the bug to his two sons. He would like to thank Oregon Fish and Wildlife for 57 fabulous years of recreation all over this great State. The family would like to thank Portland Providence Heart Clinic for 35 wonderful gravy years.
He always started voicemails to his sons and daughters-in-law with "This is your sweet, lovable, ol' father (father-in-law)" — and they agreed completely.
Survived by his wife of 61 years Joy Earl, hunting partner of 57 years Don Wilfong, sons Steven Earl and wife Barbara, David Earl and wife Joni, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two horses. Preceded in death by one granddaughter, several golden retrievers, and a few horses.
