Elaine Phyllis (Frank) Hartman

November 19, 1930 - January 26, 2013

MT. ANGEL - Elaine was born on November 19, 1930 in Kenmore, North Dakota to Alois and Magda (Bye) Frank, immigrants of Germany and Norway. She attended schools in Talley and Kenmore North Dakota. After losing her father in a tragic farming accident at age 13, she and her mother Magda came to Oregon in 1946 where she graduated from Silverton High School in 1948. While finishing High School, she worked at the Palace Theatre, waitressed in '46-'47, and in Sept. '48 went to work for the State Withholding Tax Department in Salem. On July 9, 1950 she married Earl C. Hartman also of Silverton. They had almost 59 years of marriage before Earl passed away in May of 2009. Elaine has been a member of St. Paul Catholic Church since 1946, until they moved to Mt. Angel Towers in 2008. She was a member of the Junior Women's club in the 50's, member of the Silverton Elkettes, Silverton Historical Society, and Silverton Hospital Auxiliary. Since moving to the Towers, she has been a volunteer for the Silverton Hospital Foot Clinic. She enjoyed needlework, knitting, and traveling to Arizona for several winters prior to health fading. She loved her Grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with them as they grew up. In some of her later years she worked part time at Chuck's Sport Shop, Silverton Coast to Coast Hardware, Klothes Konnection, and Chan's Restaurant.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother and sister, and Husband Earl.

Survivors are her sons: Kirk (Sue), Kevin (Lori); Grandchildren: Katie (Travis) Sperle, Emily Hartman, Michael (Nicole) Hartman, Matthew (Megan) Hartman, and Alex Hartman; Great-Grandchildren: Ethan Hartman, Lucas and Charlise Sperle; 8 nieces and nephews in Minnesota; and several cousins in Montana.

Vigil for Elaine will be at 7pm, Thurs., Jan. 31, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Funeral Mass at 3pm, Fri., Feb 1st, also at St. Paul's, with Reception to follow at Silverton Elks Lodge.
