Embie Emily Lake

SALEM - Embie Juhala Lake, 97, beloved mother was called home on Sunday morning, June 23, 2013 at Sunnyside Care Center in Salem. Funeral services will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service (605 Commercial St. S.E) in Salem on Friday, June 28th at 2:00 PM and a second funeral at the Finnish Cemetery in Lake Fork, ID at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Embie Emily Juhala was born on August 26, 1915 in Buffalo, SD, the last of seven children to Leander & Sandra Juhala. She attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis in 1936. She ventured west to Idaho in 1938 and met the love of her life. She married John F. Lake on Feb 1, 1939 in Caldwell, ID and became a farmer's wife in Long Valley where all her children were born and raised. In 1980 they moved to Salem, OR where they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1989. Dad Lake went to be with the Lord on June 28, 1989 and now 24 years later Mom Lake has joined him.
There are four basic things that Mom Lake loved in life. She first loved the Lord with all her heart and spirit. She loved her family from the bottom of her heart. She loved to serve others and finally she loved to travel and she was able to integrate those things she loved most.
Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Blum and her husband Pete of Salem, two sons, Darrell Lake and his wife Charlotte of Eagle, ID and Tim Lake and his wife Waldine of Lodi, CA, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John and son Ron. Embie was a member of the Morning Star Community Church and a long time member of Prime Time at Christian Center in Salem. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Salem Leadership Foundation in Salem, OR and the Finnish Church Memorial in Lake Fork ID.
