Glenn Marlatt

Glenn "Glenny" Lloyd Marlatt

September 21, 1959 - June 23, 2014

The community of Jefferson lost a treasure this week. Glenn Marlatt passed away in the early morning hours, Monday. Glenn was born in Salem, Oregon. In 1962, his family returned to the farm in Talbot where he lived the rest of his life. He was a 7th generation Oregonian on the land he lived on.

Glenn attended school in Jefferson, Stayton and Cascade. He worked for Willamette Valley Rehabilitation Center, Target and the Millersburg Store. In addition, he acted as assistant coach for all ages and all sports in the Jefferson area. He was a permanent fixture on the baseball fields, basketball courts and football sidelines. Not only did he coach, but he loved to play volleyball, baseball and basketball. He probably logged more hours in the Jefferson pool than any other person in town.

Glenn rode his beloved Schwinn bicycle all over town while making his rounds to the many businesses and events. It is estimated that he wore out 15-20 of them in his lifetime.

Glenn loved anything to do with the police department or fire department. He was an honorary volunteer with Jefferson Fire where he logged many hours.

Glenn had an amazing smile and a wicked sense of humor. He loved everyone regardless of their clothes, car or home. He loved playing cards, cheeseburgers, chocolate shakes and PEOPLE.

Glenn is survived by his mother, Freida Marlatt; two brothers, David (Bridgett) Marlatt and Doug Marlatt; a sister Becky (Jon) McKibben; and his nephew and nieces, Jacob Marlatt, Megan Marlatt and Madison Marlatt. He was an amazing son, brother and uncle to them as well as family member to other members in the community.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial fund has been established at Umpqua Bank in Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Jefferson Volunteer Fire Fighters, Jefferson Parks and Rec or the Community Center.

Please continue to share your many stories and remember, love one another and be nice!

Services will be held at the Jefferson High School gymnasium at 1pm on Saturday, June 28. Everyone welcome. Acceptable attire is sports wear, ball caps and safety vests.
