Harold L. Anderson

SALEM - Harold, 80 years old, passed away in his home with his family. He joins his wife who passed away July 2003. They were not only husband and wife, but best friends and soulmates for almost 50 years. Together in life on Earth, together for eternity in Heaven. He was born in Jordan, Utah on July 25, 1925 to Leonard and Lottie Anderson. He graduated from Sandy High, in Jordan, Utah. His Dad died from cancer when Harold was 18. His Mom was diagnosed with cancer, when his sister was only 13. He joined the Army to be able to help his mom with medical expenses and raise his sister. He served in World War II in Korea and Japan, earning two Purples Hearts for saving two soldiers in his troop after being shot in the arm. After an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Harold raced stock cars in a semi-pro circuit in Utah. He drove semi trucks delivering gas for many years until starting a family and wanting to be home. He trained in millwright work, retiring in Corvallis from Evanite Corporation. He is survived by his son, James Anderson of Denver, Colo; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dave Adams of Salem; grandchildren, Chris, Jamie, Aaron, Alicia, Kyle, Christina and Craig of Salem; great-grandchildren, Eliseo; niece and family, Claudia, Jeff, Zack and Lindsay Spencer of Corvallis; nephew, Robert Teinert of Bountiful, Utah. He was preceded in death by his Dad and Mom, Leonard and Lottie Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Walter and Barbara Teinert of Bountiful, Utah. Harold will be remembered as devoted, loving husband, wonderful dad and papa to his grandchildren, and faithful friend. He loved his family and doing anything that made them happy. He was an avid fisherman, loved to watch sports and was a devoted Corvallis Beaver and Denver Bronco Fan. A Celebration of his life will be held at his daughter's home in Salem at 4 to 8 p.m., on Wed., Dec. 21. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
