James William Bentz
October 20, 1932 - July 2, 2014
MT. ANGEL - James passed away in Salem on July 2, 2014 from complications following a bypass surgery. He was born to Al and Ceil Bentz in their Mt. Angel home. He lived the majority of his life in Mt. Angel. James graduated from Mt. Angel Prep in 1950.
He served in the Army
from January 14, 1953 to December of 1954. He spent his active duty time in Germany and never forgot how cold the winters were there. Was self employed and could handle any task from roofing, painting to general repairs and being the locksmith at the Eisenbaum apartments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting Trap in his spare time. He married Linda Murphy on February 23, 1973 in Salem. His Daughter Teresa was the apple of his eye - old mother hen with one chick. It will not be the same when Teresa visits because there will no longer be vicious rummy games and no more cries of "don't feed (insert name here) tonight" from the loser.
James is survived by his beloved wife Linda, daughter Teresa (Jason) Buzzell, sister, Lucy Gerspacher brother in law, Ralph Dieker and nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by son, David Michael, sister Jean Dieker and his parents Al and Ceil Bentz.
