John Nolan(1918 - 2014)

John W Nolan

November 8, 1918 - March 13, 2014

John Nolan built his character on leadership that included a strong work ethic, fairness and loyalty that influenced and enriched the lives around him. His passion and strong beliefs will be greatly missed and impossible to replace in the hearts of those who knew him.

John bravely served our country in the Army during WWII in the Pacific campaign winning numerous combat medals. He married the love of his life, Helen Lucille Hannegan, on June 27, 1942 in St. Louis, Oregon. Most important to John was family, so being a wonderful husband and terrific father was his greatest achievement in life. As a Boy Scouts Troop Leader he created many memories with his son, Robert, fishing and camping. He was a Correctional Sergeant in the Oregon State Penitentiary for over 20 years until retirement.

John found delight in others success and kept busy with hobbies like cooking, playing cards, WWII history, and walking. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and loved to garden and dine out.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen; father, Edward Nolan; and mother, Johanna Schuh. Continuing John's legacy is son, Robert (Penny) Nolan of Mission Viejo, CA; sister, Agnes Yoder; granddaughter, Kellie Nolan of Playa del Rey, CA; and grandson, Brent Nolan of North Hollywood, CA.
