Judith Marie Taylor (Moffitt)

August 15, 1937 - May 9, 2014

Judy Taylor, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, May 9th during a short stay at Salem Hospital.

Judy was born in Portland, Oregon to Donald and Grace Moffitt, the eldest of three children (Elizabeth Moffitt Maxfield and David William Moffitt). They settled in Waldport, Oregon where Judy spent her childhood and eventually graduated from Waldport High School in 1956.

In 1957 Judy met and married R. Craig Taylor, whom she would have celebrated a 57th anniversary with later this month. They made their home in Turner, Oregon where they lived in proximity of until 1994 when they moved to Salem to be closer to their first grandchild. She worked for the Turner Memorial Home in housekeeping, and was a long-time member of the Turner Christian church where she played both piano and organ for many years. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts when her son Brian was small, and taught both piano and organ to many local children and adults over the years.

She was a talented painter but her passion was her extensive Barbie doll collection, which started with one doll in 1969 and she continued collecting until her health prohibited continuing with in the early 2000s.

Judy is survived by her husband Craig, sister Betsy and brother Will of Waldport, her son Brian Taylor of Salem and daughter Nancy Brostrom of Salem. Two grandchildren, Riley and Zachary Brostrom.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00pm Saturday, May 24th at the Turner Christian Church. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
