Karen Porter-Reed(1951 - 2014)

Karen Porter-Reed

April 28, 1951 - May 3, 2014

Karen Porter-Reed went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 after succumbing to cancer. Karen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The passion of Karen's life was her family. She selflessly loved and served her entire family all throughout her years. From supporting her husband in the high demands of ministry to endless baseball games in the rain supporting her sons as children to changing the explosive diapers of her grandchildren with a smile, Karen endlessly loved her family.

Her professional career working as a secretary in the Siuslaw School District of Florence, Oregon, at Island Hospital in Anacortes, Washington, and as registrar at Cascade School District in Turner, Oregon led to lifelong friendships being born. Her magnetic personality automatically led people to confide and trust in her. It would have been difficult to encounter her and not feel loved. Karen cared deeply for all that she met.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Bruce, her two sons Christopher and Ryan, daughters-in-law Varisara and Lauren, and 3 grandchildren Marissa, Camryn and Liam.

The memorial service for Karen will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 2pm at Court Street Christian Church in Salem, Oregon (1699 Court St. SE Salem, OR 97301). In lieu of flowers please memorial gifts to the 4Him 2day Foundation (4742 Liberty Rd S #301 Salem, OR 97302) for children's cancer research. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
