Marjie Sheldon(1947 - 2013)

Marjie K. Sheldon

November 3, 1947 - June 13, 2013

Marjie K. Sheldon went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 13, 2013, after her battle with Melanoma. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus without any more pain, and will live eternally with the Lord and other believers who accepted Christ as the Son of God - who came to earth as a man, died on the cross for all sinners, and was raised again in three days.

Marjie (Taft) was born on November 3, 1947, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She was the daughter of William H. and Lucille Taft (Karels). She was raised in various small towns in South Dakota, along with her three sisters, until her family moved to Oregon in 1968. She married George E. Sheldon in 1969. The couple lived in three different states where he was stationed in the Navy, until divorcing in 1978.

In 1979 Marjie moved back to Salem to be closer to her family. She took a position as a Claims Examiner for SAIF Corporation. After four and a half years at SAIF, Marjie went to work for the State Workers Compensation Division where she worked as a field auditor for 25 years, until retiring in 2010.

She is survived by her daughter Maria, her mother Lucille Taft, sisters Ann Bunisky, Jeanne Deane, and Barbara Chen, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She loved her cats, Charlie, Chloe, and Apollo, who gave her great comfort during her illness.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 20th at Capital Park Wesleyan Church at 3:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Salem Friends of Felines.
