Melodi J. Reitenauer

Melodi J. Reitenauer was born December 19, 1960 in San Bernadino, California. In the fall of 1964 she began attending the Oregon School for the Deaf. During her time at the school she participated in various student activities. She especially enjoyed playing on the girls' basketball team. Melodi and her mother, Theresa Reitenauer, were actively involved in the Northwest Christian Camp for the Deaf in the early years of the camp. Melodi loved her time as a camper and her mother enjoyed serving as camp nurse. Melodi graduated from the Oregon School for the Deaf in 1979. After graduation she worked for a local Denny's restaurant for 10 years and then spent several years working in a mailroom for the State of Oregon. In recent years, Melodi was active in the Deaf community. She volunteered at the Oregon School for the Deaf, Deaf Timberfest Oregon, and at Deaf Fellowship at Salem Alliance Church. Melodi went home to be with Jesus on February 15, 2014 after developing complications from cancer. She will be missed by her family and friends.

The family has requested that remembrances be sent to:NWCCD:The Northwest Christian Camp for the Deaf, Scholarship Fund, or Gospel Ministries for the Deaf.Either donation can be sent to P.O. Box 21011 Salem, OR 97307.

Celebration of life will be at 3pm Friday March 7th at Salem Alliance Church 555 Gaines St NE.
